Details of the Emergency Paediatric First Aid course:
This course is designed for parents, friends & family of those with children, as well as individuals who provide childcare.
By the end of this course, everyone who attends will have the understanding and skills to apply emergency first aid treatment to paediatric casualties with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective manner.
When you have successfully completed this course, you will be awarded with a national vocational qualification. This will be Paediatric Emergency First Aid – FAA Level 6.
How long is this course?
This is a 1-day course with typically a 1-hour break for lunch and 2 15-minute break.
Course content:
This course covers the following subjects:
- The role of the Paediatric First Aider
- Primary survey
- Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED)
- Wounds, bleeding & shock
- Seizure
- Choking
- Minor injuries
- Recovery position
How will you be assessed?
During this course, there will be ongoing practical assessments by the instructor.
Once you have demonstrated an understanding of the course content and the practical elements effectively to the instructor, you will have completed the Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification, and this will be valid for 3 years.
After three years, you will have to resit this course to renew your qualification.
How many people can attend each course?
Each First Aid at Work course can have a maximum of 12 students.
Is there an age limit to attend this course?
Each student needs to be at least 16 years old or over.
