Details of the Immediate Management of Anaphylaxis course:
Most people usually think of anaphylaxis as just an allergy, while they are correct, someone suffering this is having an allergic reaction, the severity is off the charts and the casualty is suffering shock from the reaction. Anaphylactic shock is life-threatening.
In the UK over the last 20 years, to 2012 there was a 615% increase in the rates of hospital admission relating to anaphylaxis. (Turner, Paul J., et al, 2015)
Within 2018 – 2019 there have been two high profile deaths relating to anaphylaxis, one a 15-year-old girl on a flight to France and the other a 13-year-old boy in a school.
Most instances of anaphylactic shock are from a severe reaction to allergies from food or insect stings; however, the persons allergy could be to absolutely anything and depending on the body’s reaction to it, can be life threatening.
By the end of this course, everyone who attends will understand how to recognise and treat anaphylaxis confidence in a prompt, safe and effective manner.
